Retinol: Why Everyone Needs It

Vitamin A (Retinol) is important for your skin health. In my many years of practice, I’ve seen firsthand the many benefits that retinol has to offer. Those include reversing the UV damage caused by the sun, (remember 90% of aging including skin cancer is caused by the 'sun'). The benefits of using Retinol are enormous., helping to shrink pore size, correcting blemishes, age spots, diminishing fine lines and wrinkles as well as stimulating 'new collagen formation'.

Retinol is non-prescription and a great tool that I’ve recommended for years. It can take anywhere from two to six months to see beautiful results, I and my patients feel it is well worth it. Because retinol based serum that is encapsulated and slow release ensures that you receive all the its benefits within an 8-hour period. Use it twice a day as part of your daily routine.

Retinol is so effective as an anti-aging tool because it works by turning over the dead skin cells, which revitalizes your skin, smooths your skin, eliminating fine lines and reducing the appearances of wrinkles. It’s able to reverse the signs of aging by stimulating 'new collagen' formation for structure and hyaluronic acid for moisture retention.

Some minor side effects from retinol include skin irritation, peeling and extreme dryness or redness and are usually seen if you use retinoid products that are not encapsulated. While the benefits from retinol are worth it. Be warned that it’s something that you will need to commit to as age spots and deepening of wrinkles will reappear within weeks of stopping the encapsulated serum regimen and most importantly daily use of a broad spectrum sun screen (SPF 30).
